Mathematics
“Confidence in maths is confidence for life.” — Carol Vorderman
At WHPS we use White Rose Maths to support our teaching and learning of Mathematics.
We believe children should be confident, resilient mathematicians with a deep understanding of number and the ability to apply their knowledge to a range of contexts. Our bespoke Maths curriculum, designed to meet the needs of our learners, is supported by the White Rose Maths framework but carefully adapted to reflect our school's context and priorities. Through interleaving and spacing, we provide regular opportunities for retrieval and practice of essential mathematical concepts—particularly place value and the four operations—which form the building blocks for all future learning. This approach ensures progression, deepens understanding, and helps children make meaningful connections across mathematical domains.
